The most talented people in the world aren't always the ones who get through the door. That gap — between potential and opportunity — is the problem I've spent my career trying to close.
About Ariel
Recruiter. Founder. Ecosystem builder. Investor in the making.
Ariel Lopez operates where talent meets capital — and opportunity follows.
She's a venture ecosystem builder, founder advocate, and VC fellow with a decade of experience working at the intersection of startups, capital, and access. Her work has always centered on two things: helping people find their path into tech careers, and helping founders find the funding and resources to grow their companies.
She leads Partnerships at Techstars, collaborating with partners including AWS, Microsoft, Digital Ocean, Carta, and Zendesk to design and launch founder-first programs that expand access to capital, customers, and critical resources. Her most recent global bootcamp series attracted over 1,000 applicants and supported early-stage, diverse founders across the U.S., LATAM, EMEA, and APAC. Prior to Techstars, she built and led a $1M initiative with Wells Fargo to support local business owners.
Before venture, she spent years in talent strategy — helping Nike, Google, Spotify, and Uber build high-performing teams. That firsthand experience on both sides of the table — as a talent builder and as a founder navigating the ecosystem — shapes everything she does today.
Her work has been featured in Forbes, CNBC, Fast Company, Refinery29, and Business Insider. She's a frequent speaker at SXSW, Grace Hopper, ASU+GSV, the Apollo Theater, and Black Women Talk Tech.
She's currently a VC fellow — building the network, knowledge, and platform to become the investor she wishes she'd had.
The most talented people in the world aren't always the ones who get through the door. That gap — between potential and opportunity — is the problem I've spent my career trying to close.
I've been the job seeker, the founder, the person in the room, and the person trying to get in the room. Everything I teach, I've lived. That's not a tagline. That's the work.
Strategy without execution is just talking. I build things — programs, platforms, products, and pipelines — that create real pathways for real people.
"I dropped out of college. I figured it out. I learned tech recruiting. I placed talent at Nike, Google, Spotify, and Uber. I founded a company. Now I work inside venture — and I'm building toward becoming the investor I wish I'd had.

The path was never linear. That was always the point."
